This Master Craftsman Auction includes collector-grade Lie-Nielsen bronze planes rarely available on the secondary market. The second auction from Coulter Smith's Kirkwood workshop delivers what serious woodworkers and collectors have been waiting for: his hand plane collection. Smith assembled one of the finest private collections of Lie-Nielsen and Stanley hand planes including some rare collectibles. Among them: Lie-Nielsen's #1 bronze hand plane, #7 jointer, #112 scraping plane, and specialty planes like the #66 beading tool and #98 slide rabbet plane in bronze. Vintage Stanley planes include a #7 Bailey bottom joiner, 3 Bailey bench plane, and the harder-to-find #90 bull nose rabbet plane. Lot #492 holds special significance for wood turners – the Vicmarc VL300 long bed wood lathe that world-renowned instructor Stuart Batty used for teaching.
